← BACK TO MAIN PROJECTSPROJECT 11: Solar Smart Street Lights
Problem: Streetlights may use more electricity than necessary.
Materials: Solar panel, LED, battery, LDR sensor, motion sensor and controller.
Working: The LDR detects darkness. A motion sensor can increase brightness when movement is detected.
Innovation: Combines solar power with motion-based energy saving.
PROJECT 12: Smart Rainwater Tank Overflow Alert
Problem: Water is wasted when storage tanks overflow without warning.
Materials: Water tank, water-level sensor, buzzer, LED indicators, connecting wires and a battery or power supply.
Working: The sensor detects when the water reaches a preset level. An LED or buzzer alerts the user, helping them stop the water supply before the tank overflows.
Innovation: A simple, low-cost alert system that helps conserve water and prevent overflow.
PROJECT 13: School Bus Safety Alert
Problem: Passengers may be overlooked during school bus checks.
Materials: Toy bus, presence sensor or switches, LEDs, buzzer and controller.
Working: A model sensor detects a simulated passenger and triggers an alert during the departure-check demonstration.
Innovation: Demonstrates an additional passenger-safety check.
PROJECT 14: School Water Leak Detector
Problem: Leaking taps and pipes waste water.
Materials: Water sensor, buzzer, battery, LEDs and pipe model.
Working: When water reaches the sensor under a model pipe joint, an alarm activates.
Innovation: A low-cost warning system for school water points.
PROJECT 15: Smart Classroom Air Quality Indicator
Problem: Poor ventilation can make classrooms uncomfortable.
Materials: Suitable air-quality sensor, controller, LEDs and optional display.
Working: The model displays indicators according to the selected sensor's readings.
Innovation: Helps demonstrate when ventilation may need attention. This is an educational indicator, not a medical-grade monitor.
PROJECT 16: Smart Waste Segregation
Problem: Mixed waste makes recycling difficult.
Materials: Separate bins, suitable sensors, servo motor and controller.
Working: Sensors identify selected demonstration materials and direct them to the appropriate model bin.
Innovation: Demonstrates sensor-assisted waste sorting.
PROJECT 17: Farm Soil Moisture and Water-Saving System
Problem: Unnecessary watering wastes water.
Materials: Soil-moisture sensor, mini pump, tubing, controller and plant pot.
Working: The pump runs when the soil becomes drier than a calibrated threshold.
Innovation: Demonstrates targeted irrigation and allows students to compare water use.
PROJECT 18: School Electricity Usage Monitor
Problem: Lights may remain on in empty classrooms.
Materials: Occupancy sensor, LEDs, controller and low-voltage demonstration circuit.
Working: The model warns when a room is empty while the simulated lights remain on.
Innovation: Shows how monitoring can reduce avoidable electricity use.
PROJECT 19: Flood-Level Warning Model
Problem: Rising water levels can threaten low-lying areas.
Materials: Transparent tank, water-level sensors, LEDs, buzzer and controller.
Working: Different water levels trigger staged warning indicators.
Innovation: Demonstrates staged alerts for learning purposes; it is not a certified flood-warning system.
PROJECT 20: School Canteen Food Waste Tracker
Problem: Food waste is difficult to reduce without measuring it.
Materials: Weighing scale, collection container, record sheet and chart.
Working: Students record daily waste weight and compare results over time.
Innovation: Uses real measurements to improve meal planning and reduce waste.
PROJECT 21: Smart Parking System
Problem: Drivers spend time searching for vacant parking spaces.
Materials: Parking model, distance sensors, LEDs and controller.
Working: Sensors detect whether each model parking space is occupied and display availability.
Innovation: Demonstrates real-time parking-space indication.
PROJECT 22: Automatic Hand Sanitiser Dispenser
Problem: Shared dispenser surfaces can be touched by many people.
Materials: IR sensor, mini pump, suitable container and low-voltage supply.
Working: The sensor detects a hand and activates the pump briefly.
Innovation: Demonstrates touch-free dispensing with controlled liquid use.
PROJECT 23: Smart Safety Helmet
Problem: Workers can face hazards when safety procedures are not followed.
Materials: Demonstration helmet, suitable sensors, buzzer, LEDs and controller.
Working: The model gives a warning when a selected simulated hazard or unsafe condition is detected.
Innovation: Demonstrates how wearable alerts can support safety. It does not replace certified protective equipment.
PROJECT 24: Biodegradable Material from Waste
Problem: Persistent plastic waste harms the environment.
Materials: Starch-based ingredients, water, glycerine and supervised heating equipment.
Working: Students prepare and dry a small experimental starch-based film, then compare its properties with other samples.
Innovation: Explores alternative materials using a controlled school experiment. Do not claim a material is biodegradable without testing.
PROJECT 25: Smart Dustbin with Automatic Lid
Problem: Touching shared bin lids can be inconvenient and unhygienic.
Materials: Distance sensor, servo motor, small bin and controller.
Working: When a hand approaches, the sensor signals the servo to open the lid; it closes after a delay.
Innovation: Offers hands-free disposal and can be extended with a fill-level sensor.
PROJECT 26: Solar-Powered Water Purification Demonstration
Problem: Some communities have limited access to safe water and reliable electricity.
Materials: Small solar panel, low-voltage pump, tubing and demonstration filter components.
Working: Solar power operates a small pump that moves water through the model's filtration stages.
Innovation: Demonstrates renewable-energy-powered water treatment. Filtered demonstration water must not be assumed safe to drink without proper testing and treatment.
PROJECT 27: Smart Irrigation System
Problem: Traditional irrigation can waste water when crops do not need it.
Materials: Soil sensor, mini pump, controller, tubing and model crop rows.
Working: Water is supplied when soil moisture falls below the chosen threshold.
Innovation: Demonstrates targeted watering and potential water savings.
PROJECT 28: Gesture-Controlled Robot
Problem: Some robot controls are difficult for beginners to operate.
Materials: Small robot chassis, motor driver, controller and gesture sensor or transmitter.
Working: Predefined hand gestures are mapped to forward, reverse, left and right movements.
Innovation: Demonstrates intuitive robot control and possible accessibility applications.
PROJECT 29: Smart Fire Alarm System
Problem: Delayed detection of smoke or heat can increase fire danger.
Materials: Suitable smoke or temperature sensor, buzzer, LEDs and controller.
Working: When the sensor crosses its set threshold, the model activates a warning.
Innovation: Demonstrates early alerts. A student model is not a substitute for certified fire alarms.
PROJECT 30: AI-Based Plant Disease Detection
Problem: Plant diseases can damage crops when symptoms are not noticed early.
Materials: Phone or computer, sample leaf images and a suitable image-classification model.
Working: The model analyses a leaf image and displays its predicted category, based on its training data.
Innovation: Demonstrates how image classification may help identify possible plant disease symptoms. Predictions need confirmation.
